The name Free Range Tx was chosen to represent a place and idea where someone is free to live, think, travel, and explore unencumbered by societal restrictions or status. As with many things in my
life, I never made a conscious decision one day to create this endeavor and accompanying art gallery.
The idea grew more out of a simple interest to share some of my passions and
interests with others. I applied the idea of a Free Ranging society to the wonderful natural and wildlife resources of my home. They represent this concept in its most basic form.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to the outdoors. Whether it was the playgrounds, beaches, or campgrounds of my youth, to
the deer camps, or farms and ranches that I now enjoy, these locations
have always provided a balance and refuge from the hustle and bustle of a modern world. Combine this with my true love of nature and the great
state of Texas with its myriad of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, to
me there really is no place like home.
The primary goal of the Gallery is to provide a unique perspective on
the wild places and open spaces the state has to offer. The intent is to introduce,
inform, provide context, and support the usage and protection of the state's natural resources, especially for the youth of the state who may not have been exposed to these opportunities. By providing a fun and unique perspective to things that may be taken for granted, it is hoped that seeing things in a new
light might help to inspire and motivate those to seek ways to better enjoy and
protect these valuable resources for generations to come.
